BDR (Business Development Representative)

A seller focused on outbound prospecting, often at earlier-stage companies or in ABM motions. Often interchangeable with SDR.

How we use it at Agentic Demand

BDR compensation lands $70K to $90K per year — the benchmark research treats BDR, SDR and ADR as one sales development role, and puts median on-target earnings at $80K (Bridge Group, 2025, n=351). A lean team running 2 to 3 BDRs is $140K to $270K per year in compensation alone, before payroll taxes, before tools, before manager overhead — call it past $100K per head fully loaded. The argument to replace that spend is in the numbers, not in the pitch.
